Late Morning, Day One - Part 3

[Notices]

First, I'll apologize for being less frequent in my replies as I would like. I've gotten a little sidetracked on things that I shouldn't have. Anyway, I will be doing daily updates whenever possible: however, to keep things moving along, I won't wait - as I sometimes do - for everyone to reply. It won't be the end of the world, but I am hoping to get this game completed before the end of November, as I'll have a hectic time of things until February and I don't think a large delay would work in our favor.

Second, we have a new player interested. I'm not sure how they will be addressing themselves in comments, but the character's name is Leremy Kisse. So, welcome aboard! I shall probably place this new character into the 3rd position in the walking queue, lest there be any objections.

Third, Year_of_the_Fox has been incredibly kind and talented enough to produce character sheets. Kenku, I don't think I have either IM or email account for you, so I can't pass it on to you: you can get in contact with me via the email/IM addresses in my FA account, and I can send it to you. Note there may be some inaccuracies, but that is completely my fault for not keeping the spreadsheet up-to-date. I'm taking care of that right after this update.

Fourth, I'm in contact with many of you via the various methods of IM: AIM in particular seems quite common. If any of the other players wish to get into contact with me via IM (either to discuss this, or anything really) , you can find my contact info on my FA page.

Fifth, a new inventory item - stationery - is now available; thanks to Xandre on this account. The pack will be $10 (base cost) and will come with anything you will need to draw, write, etc. I'll be more than happy to adjust things at this stage of the game, if you feel your character would have bought it should it have been an option. [NOTE TO SELF: ADD TO PRICE LIST] I will also be adding a flashlight (if I haven't already), I will inform you of the price in the next update.

Sixth, I got a little sidetracked and forgot this was a RPG; so I forgot to provide experience points: the four original characters get 50 XP each for their previous encounter, apart from Gauronne who gets 100 for actively dealing with the taxi driver.

Seventh, dual-wielding is in, with penalties that I'm still trying to work out; I'll have it determined by the time actual combat happens!

Finally, if you have been in contact with me, and it appears as though I've forgotten something, PLEASE tell me! I've been getting over a cold and dealing with nearly infinitely more social interaction than I'm used to, so I'm liable to forget. Also, if you have suggestions for improvements, then I'm definitely happy to hear them, so speak up. This is my first time as DM, and it's possible people here know a lot, lot more about it than I do. Plus ideas are most definitely welcome.

[Game]

The three party members who have decided upon a direction come to a two-to-one majority, in favor of heading down the right path. Meanwhile, Sarah works on a map that Mephis watches, until Sarah adds the few finishing touches to the area that they can see.

Suddenly, along the southern path comes a young man with a cloak, a wooden bow and an aura of arcane power about him. He introduces himself as Leremy Kisse.

[At this stage, the party can either split up, or follow a majority rule vote. It's up to you guys to figure out. Regardless, the party moves on tomorrow.]

  1. What are you doing in here Leremy? You stayed so much in here? *looks at the man, examine him mentally*

  2. Kit glances at the newcomer, but otherwise stands on his guard, lest something decide to make an unexpected appearance. Having one loaded already, he pockets the remaining bolts - temporarily -, and fiddles absentmindedly with the golden ring on his right ring finger, pushing it gently with his thumb. He moves out of formation to take a brief glance at Sarah's map, but says nothing.

  3. Still undecided on which way to go, he'll just end up following the majority vote and looks around until the new person enters the area. He stands there blinking for a few moments before turning around, showing the new perosn his back, hoping that he hasn't been seen just yet, a small mumble of something detestable underneath his breath, if anyone were to see him right now, they would have seen a nervous facial expression.

  4. Leremy's expressionless face cast a faintly questioning glance at the people who came in before him. "Who're you lot?" he frowns, and before waiting for an answer says, "I have come to study the magical presence here. It intrigues me." He brushes his hair out of his eyes, seemingly an idiosyncrasy. "Now I would have to ask the same of you?" His cold eyes stare at the questioner. "What are you doing here?"

  5. Takes a deep breath and lets it out in one audible sigh, and turns around to face Leremy. "Oh, so you're here to JUST study magical energies huh?" he says, spreading his arms to exaggerate the 'area.' "Sounds more like you have more than one reason to me... Leremy Kisse my rump."

  6. Leremy's Features register surprised indignation, for only a second. "YOU!!!" He yells, (being as quiet as possible), pointing a finger at Mephis. "Why the heck are you here!?" Leremy bares his teeth. "I can't STAND You! You! You!" He begins stuttering, mumbling something about a past event in a fit of rage.

  7. After the rather terrible attempt of an insult, Mephis couldn't help but smile, almost chuckling. "Me? ME?!" he says looking around quickly and pushing himself near Leremy bringing their two heads together. "Quiet down you twit.. What are you TALKING about? I was here FIRST if ANYTHING. And for that matter, what IS your real reason for being here?!"

  8. sparks fly. "Well! I just HAPPEN to be looking for a way to increase my arcane power. What does it take for you to butt out!?" Leremy made a huffing noise, turning sharply on his left foot, back to Mephis. "If I recall, That matter in the OTHER dungeon was entirely YOUR FAULT." Leremy finds the strength over his rage to keep his back turned to Mephis.

  9. Making a screwed face and gripping Leremy's shoulder and forcefully spinning him around. "Listen up you jackweed. That WASN'T my fault. I TOLD you what would happen, but nooOOooo it had to be 'in the greater pursuit of knowledge." his left hand clenching and unclenching tight.

  10. "Oh no!?" Leremy, beginning to put his hands in a combat position, "We'll see about that!" He reaches past his hip for an arrow, sliding it out of his backpack

  11. He huffs and smiles, taking a defensive stance with his bare hands ready to smack the little upstart upside the head should he even try anything with this many people here. "You wouldn't..."

  12. William tries to step between the two of them, placing a gauntleted hand on each. "Alright! Thats enough you two! I don't know what caused this, but we do not need to be fighting each other when whoever is behind the dissapearances is on the loose!"

  13. OOC: Welcome aboard, Leremy! One question: Are you and Mephis going to squabble like this all the time, or can your characters make peace with each other for the duration of the dungeon crawl?
An older gentleman, who looks very much like a tenured college professor (largely because he is one), speaks up after William's remark: "I am... glad to meet you, Leremy, as I share your stated reason for being here. However, I think it worth noting that in my experience, emotional discord can greatly reduce the utility of any observations one makes as regards magickal forces. Is there anything I might be able to do to assist you in setting aside whatever differences you may have with Mephis?"

  14. (OOC:[ The whole Idea was that Mephis and I knew each other from a previous encounter, and generally disliked each other, but it got better over the course of the dungeon. We'll be friends eventually, given the proper circumstances.])

Leremy's features return to their usual cold and unfeeling state. "I thank you for your concern, but I believe this conversation is over..." He says in a monotone, before walking past Mephis, and reholstering his arrow in his bag. Surveying the path to attempt next.
