While Sarah pockets the strange coin she has found, Mephis searches the first aid kit. Along with the general contents of a First Aid Kit [Inventory item], there is a small scalpel.
As Sarah screams, William stumbles over towards Gauronne and the almost-completely transformed man. Fortunately, Gauronne's Slumber spell holds and spares William the necessity of having to defend off the creature, though he remains wary for the slightest hint the creature is regaining consciousness.
[Gauronne casts Alchemy at a cost of x MPs - How many did you want to spend?]
Upon discovering that the taxi driver is unfortunately beyond saving at this point, Gauronne begins an incantation. The monster begins to glow, a light which brightens until it is almost blinding. When the light subsides, the party is able to notice a few things.
The first is that the creature, now completely transformed into a quasi-bipedal boar-man, is dead; there is apparent even to those completely unskilled in either medicine or magic. Streaks of its flesh have turned golden, and gives the appearance of being metallic: could it be real?
Apparently this driver was worth his weight in gold.
The second is that the curse affecting the boar-man was not totally unprotected from counter-attack: Gauronne's maain hand has been transmuted into gold.
[Gauronne may use this as essentially a Golden Club for combat; however, it is one that gives a -1 penalty to Coordination, Nimbleness and Strength, and cannot be unequipped until the effect is reversed. The physical and mental shock also causes 5 HP of damage. The hand counts as an inventory item as well.]
[OOC Cubic: No, the characters don't know each other; the first time they met was when they were getting picked up in the taxi.]

HWATS HAPPENING IN HERE!!!!*screams loudly* what happened to the driver!!! AND YOUR HAND!!
ReplyDelete*Sarah is really nervous and trembles a bit, search her spray in my pockets*
Who did that?!! and why?!!
*run to the golden boar driver and examine him*
He wasn't dead right? Someone of yours can reverse it!
After noticing the rather abrupt transformation which had come to and end, Mephis holds the scalpel in his hand, and carefully approaches Gauronne, to examine it. "Wow... hey.. uhm.. I never caught your name... mister.. uhm.." he says as he casually pokes the gilded hand with a stick on the gorund before poking it with the scalpel.
ReplyDeleteOOC to Automata: 1 MP on the Alchemy. This yields the minimum gold, of course, but gold was never the point here -- preventing the ex-driver from causing damage to innocents was the point. Thus, I've burned a total of 7 MP (1 for Slumber, 5 for Probe, and 1 for Alchemy) so far. As for the damage... ouch. Me feel real bad!
ReplyDeleteGauronne blacks out, momentarily, from the pain. When he regains consciousness, he sees Mephis poking his left hand -- the golden one -- with a scalpel. "What are you..." oh," he says, quickly perceiving the situation. [Question for Automata: Does Gauronne feel anything in his golden hand? Can he move the fingers at all? Or is that hand just an inert, hand-shaped lump of dead metal?] "Please don't do that, sir. I would prefer that my hand not bear any injuries when it is restored. To answer your question, I am called Gauronne; may I inquire of you what you are called?"
Gauronne will burn 10 more MP on Healing himself; after that, he'll examine the ex-driver, and finally his golden hand, with the intent of figuring out (a) what happened to cause the backlash, (b) how that backlash can be reversed, and (c) if it turns out to be unreversable, is there any way to restore the hand's mobility/utility.
On the presumption that Sarah will keep asking until she gets an answer (or, if not her, that Mephis will want to know), Gauronne will explain: "Our driver was the victim of a rather strong curse. I could restore neither his body nor his mind, and therefore felt the least-abhorrent course of action was to prevent the poor man from endangering any innocent person."
*Sarah looks sad* Ohh..really poor man...i hope he is now in abetter place...
ReplyDelete*stand up and look to the others*
I'm Sarah, sorry but i'm really nervous... i think we must take our things and go away from here... stay here can be dangerous..
Somebody who did that to the driver can focus over you... i think we must act quickly!!!
Someone of you know where are the keys of the trunk?
*say looking to the other guys*
